Ginnis - 2012 Healthies Award Recipient
So much thanks goes out to two of my coworkers, Cindy and Liz. They have walked at lunch every day, clouds or sun, warm or cold, for years and have invited me to join them. I said no many times as I thought my twice weekly cardio classes were enough. One day, after I was sitting at lunch in the lunchroom doing nothing, I called and asked if I could join them and they emphatically said yes! I have been walking with them for a little less than a year and I have seen a major improvement in my stamina, endurance and afternoon attitude. The two to three miles we walk on three different paths have helped build my leg, glute and core strength. I have lost over 20 pounds over the past year with the addition of these 35 minute escapes.
I also shared my love of Zumba with the girls here at work and three of us girls have just passed our one-year anniversary of doing Zumba here at the dealership. Cindy is one of those two other girls. Win or lose, it’s nice to give thanks and praise to my friends.
Thanks to the girls I also started walking close to five miles nightly in the summer. I found a new love in walking. The most important thing I have been rewarded with during these lunchtime jaunts is two very good friends. It never ceases to amaze me how exercising can bring people together!
